Cell Phone and Cell Tower Forensics for AttorneysThis two hour session provides a foundation for understanding cell phone forensics and cell tower technology forensics.Drawing on extensive criminal and civil case experience involving digital evidence, your instructor will provide information related to the collection and handling of cell phones, how cell phone and cell tower evidence is used in cases, and how this evidence can be challenged.Part 1: In this session attendees will learn about cell phone forensics including the proper methods for collection and preserving cell phone evidence. Cell phone examination will be covered including manual examinations when software tools cannot be used. The kind of data that can be recovered from cell phones will be discussed including deleted text messages, voice mails, audio and video files and call history. A brief overview of advanced analysis of cell phone data will also be covered.Part 2: In this session attendees will learn about cell tower technology forensics and how this evidence in used in cases. The session explains the workings of the cellular system and how cell phones communicate. The various methods for analyzing call detail records will be covered, what different types of analysis reports look like and the many ways that this evidence can be used and misused in cases.
